Move For Health Day is a global initiative to promote physical activity. It is sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO) and first started on the 10th May 2003.
The aim of this fantastic initiative is to promote physical activity as essential for your health and well-being.
Whilst you may be a regular at the gym or other sporting activity, why don't you encourage a friend or family member to get active with you today or this weekend?
Here are some fun activities that will build up a sweat without feeling like too much hard work!
Go for a ride
If you have a bicycle, riding can be great fun especially through a park or along the promenade (if you live on the coast). If you don't have a bike there are loads of places where you can hire one!
Walk with friends
A nice long walk with friends can do wonders for the soul and your body. You'll be catching up on their latest news whilst getting the heart pumping without even noticing. Win, win!
If you have children (nephews or nieces?) take them outside and play games like tag, frisbee or hopscotch. Bring out your inner child and get fit in the process.
Not all date nights need to be dinner and a movie. Why not get active by going bowling or playing laser tag?
Switch it up
Tired of your usual workout routine? Try something new and take a dance class or boxing class. Doing something different will bring some extra excitement to your daily grind.
These are just a few ideas of how you can stay active and get fit without feeling like you are tied into a gym routine. The point is to do regular exercise regardless of how you do it!
